Confined Space Entry, Standby & Rescue
Atlas Access specialises in the management, planning & execution of works in confined spaces. We have the means of access & safety equipment to perform any work scope within confined space classified areas.
We can be engaged as a third party consultant (risk assess your CSE, develop job-specific entry procedures including JSA – Job Safety Analyses or SWMS – Safe Work Method Statement under which you can work), or alternatively we can provide the equipment & personnel to supervise and/or Standby Rescue your team, or we can handle the entire job from A to Z.
Atlas CSE Experts specialises in Preparation (Initial Gas Testing, Ventilation, Lighting & Initial Entry) as well as with Confined Space Entry, continuous atmospheric monitoring & Standby Rescue (Breathing Apparatus).
As part of the confined space procedure we will point out the appropriate PPE to be used in dusty, chemical or toxic environments:
- Respiratory PPE (Half face respirators, Full face respirators with appropriate filters, Breaching Apparatus SCBA or Modular Long Airline Systems)
- Coveralls & Gloves (Line of Disposable coveralls for specific environment dust /asbestos /fibreglass /lead /splash /chemical /acids etc.) as well as eye protection & safety boots.
A confined space is an enclosed or partially enclosed space that is not designed or intended for human occupancy except for the purpose of performing work and has restricted means of access and egress, and may become hazardous to personnel entering it due to:
- Its design, construction, location or atmosphere
- The materials or substances in it OR
- Any other conditions relating to it.
Some examples of confined spaces are:
- Construction (risers, service ducts, lifts, ventilation & exhaust shafts, void spaces, trenches, tunnels, pits, wells & sewers).
- Industrial (all the above, as well as chimneys, boilers, trunks, cofferdams, pipelines, cargo tanks, fuel tanks, ballast tanks, storage tanks, process vessels, silos, vats etc).
- Marine (shipboard spaces entered through small hatchways or access points, cargo tanks, cellular double bottom tanks, duct keels, ballast or oil tanks and void spaces).
